Renowned artist Ruholamin honors scholarly legacy of Imam Baqir (AS) in new painting

Hassan Ruholamin, a renowned impressionist artist known for his paintings depicting stories from Islamic history, has recently showcased his latest artwork, emphasizing the scholarly achievements of Imam Muhammad Baqir (AS), the fifth Imam of Shia Islam.

The unveiling of the painting took place on the eve of the Imam's martyrdom anniversary.

Ruholamin's painting portrays Imam Baqir (AS) alongside his students in a classroom setting.

Accompanying the artwork, the artist provided a note shedding light on the Imam's significant role in promoting knowledge and intellectual discussions.

According to Ruholamin, Imam Baqir (AS) initiated a seminar in Medina, which attracted Iranian scholars frustrated by their rulers. Notably, students from Isfahan and Sarakhs traveled to Medina to attend the Imam's classes, receiving special attention from him. These pupils later became esteemed scholars in their own land.

Imam Baqir (AS), recognized for his analytical prowess and ability to elucidate complex intellectual matters, played a pivotal role in advancing learning and science during a challenging and restrictive era. He laid the foundations for an Islamic university, which flourished under the guidance of his son, Imam Sadiq (AS).

In addition to his painting featuring Imam Baqir (AS), Ruholamin has recently produced three other artworks centered on Islamic themes. One of these works, titled ‘Jawad al-Shahid’, commemorates the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Jawad (AS), the ninth Imam of Shia Islam. The painting depicts white pigeons soaring above the remains of the Imam, who was killed by the Abbasid caliph Al-Mutasim in Baghdad.

Another painting by Ruholamin, titled ‘Maraj al-Bahrain’ (Creation of the Two Seas), celebrates the wedding anniversary of Imam Ali (AS) and Hazrat Fatima (SA). The artwork references a verse from the Holy Quran, symbolizing the confluence of two seas. This piece was completed on June 20, coinciding with the 1st Dhul Hijjah.

Lastly, the artist unveiled a painting on May 31, during the birthday celebration of Imam Reza (AS) in Mashhad. This artwork depicts Imam Reza bidding farewell to his son, Imam Jawad (AS), as the latter departs Medina to meet the Abbasid caliph Mamun in Khorasan. Mashhad is home to the shrine of Imam Reza (AS).

Ruholamin's recent paintings reflect his commitment to capturing significant moments from Islamic history and highlighting the contributions of revered figures within the faith.
